POSSIVELMENTE, O PIOR FILME DO ANO *



“Life’s a bitch and then you die”. A equação é dura e simples (estoicamente, a solução – citando, de novo, os clássicos – poderá ser “I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden”) mas, quando se lhe introduz a variável-deus-judaico-cristão, tudo se complica: afinal, o Grande Amigo Imaginário está-se olimpicamente (alerta pagão) nas tintas para as Suas criaturas, tanto faz miminhos aos Maus como estropia os Bons e nunca poderemos adivinhar para que lado acordou virado. Isto é o melhor de A Árvore da Vida, de Terrence Malick. O resto são imponderabilidades filosóficas – e respectivos equivalentes visuais – “à la sauce” de Paulo Coelho (ainda que “ao contrário”), “light shows” psicadélicos tal como a turba hippie os viu nos primeiros concertos dos Pink Floyd (mais ano, menos ano, em 1968, Stanley Kubrick realizava 2001 – A Space Odyssey, a cujo terço final Mallick foi buscar o adicional “deslumbramento cósmico-coiso-telúrico”), matrimónios incestuosos entre documentários-sobre-a-origem-da-vida/Cousteau/BBC/National Geographic/Carl Sagan/”o caldo primordial” e Jurassic Park, com "kitsch" beato a tiracolo, a jiga-joga macrocosmos-microcosmos em fundo de América-Texas-anos-50 + "soul searching" freudiano, a memória-e-a-autobiografia e, para tornar tudo infinitamente desesperante, curtas sequências de puríssimo cinema (imagens e sentidos em movimento) no mais sublime estado de graça.

O lado “gesamtkunstwerk” esquizofrénico replica-se, irritantemente, na banda sonora: Alexandre Desplat coelhiza a partitura, Bach, Couperin, Mozart, Mahler, Smetana, Gorecki, Brahms tentam o impossível e falham gloriosamente. Não fugindo ao contexto, conhecer biblicamente a ilustre (quase) desconhecida, Joanna Going – fugazes mas motivadores segundos no ecrã – poderia operar milagres na árvore da vida.

* e não se diz isto com alegria sobre Terrence Malick

Filme que vence prémio é critério seguro para ser mau. O único que vi com prémios no cadastro foi o Ben Hur e é pior que mau.
