Portuguese Water Hound May Be Obama Choice of Dog; Labradoodle Also Being Considered

"A Portuguese Water Hound could be the new Obama's dog. A Portuguese water hound or a Labradoodle will be the dog of choice to join President-elect Barack Obama and his family in the White House very soon. At the end of the presidential election, when Barack Obama was declared the winner of the election, he told the press as well as his daughters, that their reward would be a new family pet. After that, the choices were rumored all over the internet and the press, as people tried to guess what type of dog that the Obama's would go with, but it has now been slimmed down to a couple of final choices. A Portuguese Water Hound is a dog that loves the water, and is well known as a seafaring breed that is also extremely energetic. It is probably going to get the nod as the new dog for the Obama's because it is so strikingly obedient, and follows direction very well. The dog is described as being of medium build, is a loyal companion, and a very alert guard dog. It probably won't be used as a guard dog, but it is probably nice to know that if could defend Obama's daughters if the need ever arose. The dogs can have either curly or wavy coats, and have an impressive yet powerful look to them. Their black fur is nice to look at, and they could be an interesting dog to have at the White House. A Labradoodle is actually a dog that has been bread, and is a mixture of two different breeds of canines. According to the Westminster Kennel Club, a Labradoodle is a crossbred or hybrid dog created by crossing the Labrador retriever and the Standard or Miniature Poodle. It is a relatively new breed, but is known to be a good house dog because it provides a dog that is better for those with allergies. It doesn't shed all that often, so fur and dander doesn't become all that much of a problem, and it still brings with it the energy that a Labrador would have. The energy could be a downfall to a dog being in the White House, but with the proper training, a dog like this could even be used as a guide dog". (aqui)
