A HISTÓRIA É UMA GAJA ESTRANHA (E BOA)
Amor Vincit Omnia - Caravaggio, 1601–1602
"Salvian of Marseille wrote a long hell-fire sermon called On The Governance Of God in the 440s which ascribed Roman failures against the (obviously inferior) 'barbarians' to their own sins: notably, unjust and excessive taxation, public entertainment and sexual licence. This is the sort of thing extreme Christian preachers always said (and still say), and its detail cannot be taken too seriously".
